Tonight, I reunite with my old DJ Crew that brought me into the game, INTROBASS PRODUCTIONS, or IBP for short. The crew consisted of Def Jay, Junior, Brandy, Roli Rho, LoLyfe, and DJ Fatfingaz. DJ RawBeatz is the newest and youngest member who got down in 2007. IBP been rockin since the early 90s, all over NYC, and made a name for themselves at parties which eventually became LEGENDARY, such as Village Gate, Yips, Ukrainian Hall, and Neolounge. They were PIONEERS when it came to the DJ game, especially within the Filipino community, paving the way for DJs like myself. They did everything, from Sweet 16s, to thowing Hall Parties, to college parties, to clubs, and they were the only DJ crew ever to have a float in the Philippine Independence Day Parade, which happens every year on the 1st Sunday in June.

I remember the year before I got down with them I seen em at the parade, which was a big deal for youngins back in the day to be at, and they had their own booth, where they set up their sound, and rocked all day long at the festival. They even had like 2 cassette duplicators, pressing up mixtapes for sale right there on the spot at their booth, while hosting the bboy circles, and doing turntablist showcases throughout the day. They were on that real DJ shit.

I remember looking up to these cats, and saying…”Yo that’s what I wanna do”…I ended up hooking up (pause) with Fatfingaz after he heard a FREESTYLE tape that I recorded…not rap freestyles, but FREESTYLE from the 80s. We ended up linking up…and from there he took me under his wing….put me down in IBP…and the rest is HISTORY.

This year will make 10 years for me in the club in November. IBP put me on my first flier…which was for a party at JamRock in Hempstead, Long Island, back in like 98…But I remember I was so young at the time….my parents didn’t even let me go to the party….SMH.

But it’s been a long journey…and after all these years…all of IBP is still rockin…because the love of djing and the love of music will never go away…
